Hi,
A ficus the diam of a middle finger only 2-3 years old... Yes the ficus too littles aren't found in the wild or grown from a seed. They are a sport designed for bonsai, so to get more they take cutting and layers etc.. . With a ficus too little I have taken cuttings larger than your tree and it survived only by living in moist turface. In tropical Florida they can do cuttings from all different kinds of ficus the size of your leg. So you can make a tree with say a 3" trunk diameter that is only 1 year old etc..
