Zisha, or purple clay, can be found only in the city of Yi Xing in the province of Jiangsu, southern China.
Today, the existed purple clay is getting fewer and fewer. Artists, workshops just buy cubic purple clay from the mining factories, and there are many recipes to make the Zisha ceramics.
For less material and higher profit, over 95% of purple clay, or Zisha, are using making teapot.
The ceramic of Zisha is unique. There are millions of Asian people using Zisha teapots everyday. Besides the taste of tea is better, the water with tea inside of the Zisha pot could stay a long time without lost of its quality.
For Zisha orchid pot or Bonsai pot, the plants will grow better because the roots could breathe better.
As you can find from photos, there are about four kinds of color can be called Zisha: dark purple, dark orange, orange and light gray with some blue. The prices are vary due to the way to make the items. The heavier weight,the smoother surface, the harder body (some of them are harder than porcelain), and the sharper outline, the better.
