I have a beach nearby that has awesome small gravel on it, and it would save me a fortune. There is only one catch. Salt Water. So how long do I have to rinse the rock to clean any salt out of it, or is it just a bad idea and I have to avoid it. I'd realy like to use it because its nice rock and its free.

Hmmm... I think you need to wash it of course... but unless it's really porous rock... you should be fine...

I personally would not use it, the salinity is more than likely soaked pretty bad into the rocks, and would be very difficult to get out. So just to be on the safe side I would say no, but you could get some and wash it off, then try it out on a tree. Thats a for sure way to tell lol.

ALL rocks are pourious in some way. I wouldn't use it....no matter how much ya wash it.... It's gonna have salt in it....heck it's been soaking in it for 1000's of years. Also it's make up must be from the salt so..... Using this in any for any Bonsai hasta be risky? Unless you get a plant that thrives in salty soil which I doubt there are many??
