I ran this by Jerry today! This Ficus has one heck of a corkscrew as you can see in the pics. Jerry says I can get rid all or most of it for a shallower pot. He also told me for branch trimming to cut them JUST away from the tree and let the stub die before removing totally. This leaves a minimal scar. I think we should name Jerry "King Of Ficus" ;D Thanx Jerry You Da Man!!!

WOW that ficus is well endowed! But your right it needs to go if you ever want it to get into a smaller pot. I hate it for the little fella but his massive root will have to go under the knife.

Yeah I was shocked......lil fella hasn't been kept in check below ground probably since day one. Knife is a bit harsh....I have a Exacto Saw for the job from my model car building days. Saved all my Exacto knife stuff knew it'd come in handy again some day!

Oh yeah just got a email from Jerry. He says definitely no problem losing that root. I don't hafta but as a precaution I'm gonna treat the cut with root hormone as a safety to get new smaller roots going in that spot. Now just to wait for the new home for my buddy!
